Spoiler Alert: The answer is yes.
Most of my photos from September were taken in my backyard. I’m a huge fan of daily backyard bird photography for two reasons: 1) I need the practice, because bird photography is difficult, and 2) seeing beautiful creatures and making photographs of them brings me great joy. Does it bother me that I make so many photographs of “common” birds? Not a bit, because it reminds me that beauty is common, if commonly overlooked.
On any given day, millions of other people are photographing birds, adding to a considerable stack of existing wildlife photography worldwide. And that’s wonderful, because what the world really needs is the joy we get from making the photos.
